“J. Smith Lanier & Co. is excited to be the corporate sponsor of the 10th Annual J. Smith Lanier & Co. Charity Golf Classic for the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children. The event has raised over $1.6 million in net proceeds since 2005. This extraordinary partnership has changed the lives of not only the BTFC Families but all of our J. Smith Lanier & Co. employees as well. We are honored to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this wonderful event,” said J. Smith Lanier & Co. Chairman and CEO, D. Gaines Lanier.”
At the Reception, BTFC children and families will be in attendance. The BTFC children who have been “Charity Classic Kids” featured in the Charity Classic promotional materials over the past 10 years will be recognized.
The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children started out as a support group for parents at Egleston Children’s Hospital in 1983. Now the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children serves children and families in nine states (compared to only one when J. Smith Lanier & Co. first joined as title sponsor of this event) BTFC continues to grow and help more and more children each year. Proceeds from this event will help hundreds of children and their families by enabling the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children to provide emotional, social and financial assistance; education and information; scholarships; research funding, and more.
Mary Moore, BTFC’s Executive Director, adds, “It is hard to believe that a decade has passed since the beginning of this event and the J. Smith Lanier & Co. /Brain Tumor Foundation for Children partnership. I think it is fair to say that the relationship is ingrained in both organizations, with a level of support for our Foundation and our families that extends from the top down at J. Smith Lanier & Co. In no way do we take this association for granted, however; instead, we cherish it and recognize it as something extremely unique.”
