January 1, 2015 – J. Smith Lanier & Co. is honored to announce Kim Johnson, Corporate Client Resource Specialist, was awarded the Edith Lanier Wickham “Living the Vision” award at the company’s annual conference held on January 23, 2015.
Fondly referred to as “Aunt Edith”, Edith Lanier Wickham proved herself as a wise and providential leader of J. Smith Lanier & Co. from 1927 until her retirement in 1973. Her contributions to J. Smith Lanier & Co. have laid the groundwork for the outstanding organization J. Smith Lanier & Co. is today. In honor of Aunt Edith, J. Smith Lanier & Co. awards one individual biannually this prestigious award.
Prior to joining J. Smith Lanier & Co., Ms. Johnson was a Human Resource Director for a large management company where she was an intricate part in creating and building the Human Resource and Risk Management departments. In 2001, Ms. Johnson began her insurance career with Powell-Walton-Milward Insurance (currently J. Smith Lanier & Co.) as a Claims Analyst. In 2006, she transferred to the benefits division as a Benefit Advisor and earned her Life and Health License. Promoted to a Technical Training Specialist in 2008, she assisted with the education of Zywave® Client Portal to the clients in the Kentucky and Tennessee area. Understanding the value added resource that could set J. Smith Lanier & Co. apart from other brokers, Ms. Johnson began to educate and work with all corporate divisions. In 2011, she received the opportunity to join the corporate team as a Client Resource Specialist where she oversees all of the Zywave® online resources, as well as the execution and education of JOIN (J. Smith Lanier & Co. Online Insurance Network), a mid-market Private Benefits Exchange specifically designed to deliver employer budget management while simultaneously improving employee satisfaction.
Ms. Johnson also served and participated in the Society of Human Resources Management Chapter and was on the United Way of the Kentucky Bluegrass Board of Directors for over 15 years.
