J. Smith Lanier & Co. and Anderson, Williams & Co. Execute Agreement West Point, Georgia--J. Smith Lanier & Co., one of the oldest, largest and most respected independent insurance brokerage firms in the country, is pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement effective March 1, 2007, for Anderson, Williams & Co. of Birmingham, Alabama to join its operations. The announcement was made by D. Gaines Lanier, Chairman and CEO of J. Smith Lanier & Co. Lanier said, "We are pleased to have Anderson, Williams & Co. join the J. Smith Lanier & Co. team. Anderson, Williams & Co. is a well-established firm in the Birmingham area and together we can combine our strengths. As we look to the future, these are the kind of committed, knowledgeable people we want to grow with." Anderson, Williams & Co. was originally founded in 1980 by Charles Anderson and Drennen Williams. Since 1980, they have focused on retirement plan services for various size companies and related products and services for individuals. "We are extremely excited about the agreement to join J. Smith Lanier & Co. Becoming part of J. Smith Lanier & Co. will allow us to offer a more diverse variety of products and services for our clients.,” said Drennen Williams, of Anderson, Williams & Co.
