J. Smith Lanier & Co. Promotes Philip Saussy To Senior Vice President and Benefits Practice Leader |

West Point, Ga. – J. Smith Lanier & Co., one of the country’s oldest and largest independent insurance brokerage firms, announces the promotion of Philip Saussy to Senior Vice President and Benefits Practice Leader. In this role, Saussy will be responsible for coordinating and structuring the internal resources and capabilities of J. Smith Lanier & Co’s Benefits Advisory Group. Additionally, Saussy presides over J. Smith Lanier & Co. Benefits Advisory Group sales meetings and other Benefits Advisory Group functions as needed. Saussy serves as a primary contact for agency carriers and vendors who work with J. Smith Lanier & Co. He provides support for many benefits related issues such as continuing education classes for the Benefit Advisory Group, training of new Benefits employees, and recruitment of new talent. Saussy also serves as Chairman of the J. Smith Lanier & Co. Benefits Review Committee which assesses new tools and resources to help improve service for clients and prospects. In addition to Saussy’s Benefits Practice Leader roles, he still maintains his own person book of insurance business and is active in new business development. “With Philip’s knowledge and years of Benefits Advisory experience here at J. Smith Lanier & Co., he brings many tremendous skills and leadership capabilities into our organization. Saussy has been employed at J. Smith Lanier & Co. since 1999, but has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years. He started and developed Saussy Group Benefits, a comprehensive Benefits Advisory Firm, which was purchased by J. Smith Lanier & Co. in 1999. He resides in Waycross, Georgia and is a Past President of Jacksonville Certified Employee Benefits Specialists (CEBS) Chapter, named 1996 Group Consultant of Year for U. S. Division of Canada Life Assurance Co., contributing writer for The Journal of Financial Service Professionals national magazine, and earned Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations.
