William D. Ploeger Joins J. Smith Lanier & Co. As Senior Vice President

 
- Columbus, Georgia--J. Smith Lanier & Co., one of the oldest, largest, and most respected independent insurance brokerage firms in the country, is pleased to announce William D. (Bill) Ploeger has joined the Columbus, Georgia office as Senior Vice President.

Ploeger, a graduate of Georgia Tech, served as president of The Jordan Agency, Inc. in Columbus, Georgia, for over twenty years before retiring in 1999. He also served as past president of the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and past president of the Metropolitan Boys Clubs. Since his retirement, Ploeger has been playing tournament golf throughout the United States and in Europe. He is a former United States Senior Amateur Champion, a three-time Georgia Senior Amateur Champion, and was ranked the number one senior amateur golfer in the United States in 1999 and 2001. He is a member of the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame, the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, and the National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame. Ploeger is also a member of the Columbus Rotary Club.
